FAQ for COVID-19 Vaccine Administration

To help answer any questions the general public may have, we will allow Stephen Mabe: PharmD, Pharmacy Manager, and Vaccination Program Coordinator of the Apothecary, to respond to some common inquiries. This Questions and Answers section will be updated periodically to help educate you and your loved ones about the program taking place in Pickaway County.

The Apothecary is currently administering the Moderna vaccine. This vaccine is more stable for storage and can be efficiently utilized in the retail setting. The Moderna vaccine has been extensively tested and is one of the critical vaccines used in the United States' vaccination program.

For some people, the Moderna vaccine may create a sore arm, light fatigue, low-grade fever, or chills. These side effects are common and are very similar to other yearly vaccines you may have received and their side effects. (IE. Your annual flu shot.) We have also noticed that those who have contracted COVID already tend to have a more robust response to the first vaccine. Meanwhile, those who have not contracted COVID tend to see a stronger response in the second vaccine.
